This painting was inspired by a camping trip last spring with good friends at Holland Lake. We drove there in a blizzard and woke the next morning to find 5″ of snow. If we had not been meeting friends we probably would have turned around in the storm, but it proved to be such a beautiful weekend. The lake looked like smooth black slate, and we four were the only ones out there. Later in the day the snow melted and it was gorgeous! John completely restored the old red canoe and made the green one, which is a work of art. I’m sure I have not done them justice. Thanks for the great memories John and Marge!
“Picnic” is an oil, 24×30. It will be in my room 176 at the Western Masters Art Show, coming up very soon – March 19-22 in Great Falls, MT.
