Rosie & Friends

June 23rd, 2009 |

I wanted to do something a little different, a little looser and wilder, and so did this little painting of Rosie and her magpie friends. I had a good timeRosie & Friends 12x12 6inch with the color and the great cow shape. Cows really are wonderful shapes, you know? This painting is 12″x12″ and is on a gessoed board with a 2″ return (no frame). A little more modern and fun.

Also – I’m celebrating! Some of my artist friends and I submitted a show proposal and were accepted by Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art to do a five woman show entitled “One Hundred Mile Radius – A Response to Place”. The participating artists will be Fran Carlson, Lisa Easton, Christine McKay, Debi Schmit and myself. This show is exciting to us, as we all approach art from very different perspectives and mediums. We are finding already that this collaboration will stretch and push us all in different directions artistically, and make us reexamine our own work and focus as we interact with each other. I’m thrilled! Date to be determined, but will be at least a year from now.

Storm Over the Butte

June 16th, 2009 |

Hi, I’ve been a long time gone from my blog! Summers get BUSY around here. Aside from ranch projects and chores, I’ve been moving one daughter to Missoula (into the new townhouse!) and dealing with the other daughter’s TWO roll over accidents in less than 24 hours! Thankfully, she is fine. Then of course, came the car shopping…

This is a painting I completed recently. The subject is a difficult one I feel, as it’s so horizontal. This is my third attempt to paint Square Butte – and the first one that made it to completion. The painting is 12″ x 12″ and is for sale at the C.M. Russell Masters in Miniature Show, opening June 20, and running through the summer.Storm over the butte 12x12 blog
