I was surfing the internet one night looking for good story for painting and came upon this old rodeo poster. “ALWAYS BE READY TO RIDE”. Wow! How could I resist? So of course I had to build a painting around that poster, but ultimately, around that one line!
One of the most exciting things about being an artist is that journey, the research required to put a painting together, and the wonderful places that doing that research may lead. I’m very happy with the way “Always Be Ready to Ride” turned out. But even if I had not been, I would have taken away a bit of knowledge, that glimpse of story, real or imagined. It doesn’t get any better than that! “Always Be Ready…” is an oil, 30″ x 24″.
I plan to do some more paintings along this line, finding these treasures from the past and building paintings around them. Can’t wait!
LOVE this!! And the backstory:) “Tip the Clowns…or else” isn’t a bad launching point either!!! 🙂
Aother Laurie GEM !
Winner!! Love your journey! Do hope there’s more as your interpretations are amazing. Loving this painting, Laurie!
Those words stating to always be ready to ride hold a lot a weight when a cowboy is trying to make it to several rodeos in just a couple days. The roads are long between towns in Montana and no one likes to have his ride “turned out”. I believe that’s happened a time or maybe two in this household. Great painting. Holly
